General Information

Porcelia venezuelensis is a deciduous tree growing around 12 - 23 metres tall. The trunk can be 25 - 60cm in diameter[].
The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a food.
Porcelia venezuelensis is found in various locations in Venezuela and Colombia. Although forest cover loss has been reported over the past years, this does not appear to be a major threat to this species at present. The plant is classified as 'Least Concern' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2021)[].

Fruit - raw. Sweet and palatable, reminiscent of a mango[]. The yellow fruit comprises 1 - 13 oblongiform to ovoid monocarps, each 50 - 75mm long and 35 - 55mm wide[]
