General Information

Porcelia steinbachii is a deciduous tree growing around 6.5 - 18 metres tall[].
The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a food.
Porcelia steinbachii is known from only 6 - 10 locations, most of which are in the Santa Cruz department of Bolivia, where the plains have been subject to extensive habitat loss. The locations here are highly threatened or may already be lost. The plant is classified as 'Vulnerable' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2021)[].
