General Information

Porcelia mediocris is a semi-deciduous tree usually growing around 12 - 16 metres tall, though specimens up to 30 metres have been reported. The bole is around 8 - 20cm in diameter[].
The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a food and a medicine.
Porcelia mediocris occurs in areas where forest cover loss has been reported over the past years. However, the species has a wide range and is found in many locations. The plant is classified as 'Least Concern' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2020)[].
