Porcelia magnifructa is a deciduous shrub or a small tree usually growing around 3 - 12 metres tall[, ].
The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a food.
Porcelia magnifructa is only known from 11 distinct locations and occurs in areas where forest cover loss has been reported over the past years. The plant is classified as 'Near Threatened' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2020)[].

Edible Uses

Fruit - raw. The pulp is sweet and juicy, but fibrous[]. The fruit has a very thick, leathery pericarp. The 6 - 7 large seeds are closely packed and are covered with a fleshy matrix which when dry has the colour and odour of prunes[]. The fruit is composed of 1 - 4, oblongiform to ovoid monocarps, each around 45 - 85mm long, 3o - 45mm wide[];
