General Information

Pinanga mooreana is a clump forming, evergreen palm producing a rather close clump of unbranched stems usually around 8 metres or more tall and 25 - 35mm in diameter. Each stem is topped bty a crown of 6 - 8 leaves that can each be up to 300cm long including the petiole.
The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a source of a masticatory and various materials.

Pinanga mooreana is a plant of the humid tropics, where it is found at low elevations.
Species in this genus generally require a warm, sheltered position with at least moderate shade, especially when young. They grow best in a circumneutral, moist but well-drained soil and strongly dislike dry conditions[
