The tree is harvested from the wild for local use as a source of wood.
There may be some local threats from habitat loss to Litsea baviensis as a consequence of deforestation and habitat destruction through conversion to agriculture and plantations., but these are not considered to significantly threaten the species globally, especially since it is also found in several protected areas. The plant is classified as 'Least Concern' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2020)[
