Leptadenia pyrotechnica is extremely widespread, extending from the Sahara and northern Africa, through to Iran and northwest India. It has a variety of local uses. The global population is inferred to be very large and is not known to be undergoing significant decline. The plant is classified as 'Least Concern' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2020)[
