Lemaireocereus lepidanthus populations seem to be stable. Although infrequent, it is abundant where it occurs. The species reproduces easily and is used as living fences. There are, however, localized threats, mainly due to land use change, and it has a relatively small range. The plant is classified as 'Near Threatened' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2017)[
