The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a food.
Eugenia mcvaughii endemic to Venezuela, where it is known from several states of the country. Although there is no population information for the species, it is known that the habitats where it is distributed (deciduous and semi-deciduous forests) are strongly threatened and transformed by agricultural activities and other human activities. Thus a decreasing population trend is inferred from the less than 10 known locations.The plant is classified as 'Endangered' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2020)[
