General Information

Coussapoa microcarpa is an evergreen tree with a longish, sparse crown; it can grow 8 - 15 metres tall. The straight bole can be 50 - 70cm in diameter. The plant can sometimes be a semi-parasite growing on other trees - in such circumstances it can produce 'strangling roots' which constrict the other tree and lead to its eventual death[].
The tree is sometimes harvested from the wild for local use of its wood. It can be used as a pioneer when restoring native woodland and has ornamental properties which make it suitable for use in landscaping, especially in parks and large gardens[].

Propagation

Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a partially shaded position in a nursery seedbed. A moderate germination rate can usually be expected, with the seed sprouting within 20 - 30 days[]. When the seedlings are 3 - 4cm tall, pot them up into individual containers and they should be ready to plant out 4 - 5 months later[].
