Hydriastele longispatha is a single-stemmed, robust, evergreen palm with an unbranched trunk up to 35 metres tall and 15 - 30cm in diameter; this is topped by a crown of 15 - 17 arching leaves, each of which can be 250 - 360cm long, including the petiole[
