General Information

Xylopia pierrei is a deciduous tree growing 20 - 30 metres tall. The bole can be 40 - 60cm in diameter[].
The tree is sometimes harvested from the wild and used locally as a masticatory and timber, It also has potential as a source of essential oils and has ornamental value[].
The tree is classified as 'Vulnerable' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2011)[].
