The heartwood is brown or reddish brown, often with lighter and darker streaks; it is not clearly demarcated from the light brown sapwood. The texture is fairly fine, glossy; the grain somewhat crossed and curly. The wood is moderately hard; moderately heavy; somewhat durable being resistant to beetle attack.
