Talipariti hastatum is an evergreen tree with a spreading crown; it can grow from 3 - 14 metres tall[, ]. The blossoms are pale yellow. occasionally with intermittent pale red petal margins, and a deep red center upon opening. Over the course of the day, the flowers deepen to orange and finally to red before they wither[].
The tree is harvested from the wild for local use as a medicine and source of fibre. It is grown as an ornamental in some parts of the tropics[].
