General Information

Talbotiella gentii is an evergreen tree with a dense, heavy, spreading crown; it usually grows from 9 - 18 metres tall. The bole is thick with a thin bark[, ].
The tree is harvested from the wild for local use of its wood. It is sometimes grown as an ornamental, valued for its sweetly-scented, pinkish-white, decorative: flowers[].
Talbotiella gentii is endemic to Ghana, where habitat degradation and loss caused by clear-cutting of the forest, agriculture and human settlement are ongoing threats. The plant now exists in small stands in rocky areas of dry forest, most of its habitat having been destroyed. The plant is classified as 'Critically Endangered' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species[].
