General Information
Syncarpia hillii is a tall straight tree growing up to 40 metres tall. The bole can be up to 1.5 metres in diameter[
].
The tree is harvested from the wild for its useful timber.

Satinay occurs in a limited area mainly in the subtropical zone, on and close to Fraser Island on the Australian east coast, within the latitudinal range 25 - 28°S at elevations between sea level and 700 metres[
]. It grows best in areas where annual daytime temperatures are within the range 20 - 30°c, though it can tolerate 10 - 35°c[
]. It prefers a mean annual rainfall in the range 1,100 - 1,700mm, but can tolerate 800 - 2,000mm[
