The wood is of good quality and is used locally.
Styrax radians is threatened by land use change to extensive agriculture, livestock ranching, mining activities, and urban expansion. Although the taxon has a very large extent of occurrence it is suspected that it could decrease in the coming years. The area of occupancy is small, but it is found in more than ten locations. Therefore the plant is classified as 'Near Threatened' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2020)[
