Stranvaesia bodinieri is a plant of warm temperate regions of China and Vietnam. It is not very cold-hardy, tolerating temperatures down to around -5°c for short periods.
Requires a well-drained fertile soil in a sheltered position in sun or light shade[, ]. Succeeds in any good well-drained soil in a sunny position[]. Prefers a warm soil that is not too heavy or close[]. Tolerates calcareous soils[, ]. Dislikes windy sites[].
Plants are susceptible to fireblight[]. Plants in this genus are notably resistant to honey fungus[].

Propagation
