General Information

Stifftia parviflora is an evergreen tree with a dense, elongate crown; it can grow 4 - 8 metres tall. The straight, cylindrical bole can be 20 - 30cm in diameter, with a thick, corky bark[].
The tree is sometimes harvested from the wild for local use of its wood. A pioneer species, it can be used in reforestation schemes. Very ornamental when in bloom, the tree can be used in landscaping and is particularly suitable for planting in narrow streets and under power lines[].

Propagation

Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a partially shaded position in a nursery seedbed. Stick the seeds in the ground, just leaving the tuft of hairs above ground, and do not cover. A germination rate of less than 50% can generally be expected, with the seed sprouting within 14 - 28 days[].
