Stenocereus gummosus is a spiny, succulent, evergreen shrubby cactus with numerous stems branching from ground level; it can grow around 1 - 3 metres tall, forming thickets 10 metres or more wide. The branches are arching to prostrate, 5 - 8cm in diameter[
