Medicinal

The leaves and flowers are taken internally as a blood purifier[].
The leaves are boiled to make a sort of tea which is taken with sugar[]. A leaf-infusion is made from the dried powdered leaves, which are boiled in milk then sweetened with dates or sugar. This is taken hot as a treatment for rheumatism, blennorrhoea and haemoptysis[]. This promotes diuresis by making the patient drink a lot of water[].

Other Uses

The leaves are said to be used in Egypt like henna[].
