General Information

Simira sampaioana is a deciduous tree with a dense, globose crown; it can grow 6 - 9 metres tall. The short bole can be 30 - 40cm in diameter[].
The tree is sometimes harvested from the wild for local use of its wood, which is also the source of a dye that can be used commercially. It can be used as a pioneer species when restoring native woodland and has ornamental qualities that make it suitable for use in landscaping, especially for planting in narrow streets[].
