The habitat of Sideroxylon palmeri is threatened by deforestation due to land use change for urban expansion and associated human activities. However, there are still areas of well conserved habitat and this species occurs in at least three protected areas. Despite this change in land use which is occurring across its range, this species is not currently considered to be significantly impacted by habitat loss. The plant is classified as 'Least Concern' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2021)[
