Other Uses

The heartwood is dark yellow chestnut in colour, it is demarcated from the light yellow brown sapwood. The texture is fine, there is a criss-crossing grain with a pronounced veining, there is no characteristic smell or taste, the brightness is medium, The wood is hard, highly durable and resistant to insects. An attractive hardwood, it is used for a range of products including sleepers, house posts, fencing and as a substitute for guayacán (Guaiacum species)[
