General Information

Protium puncticulatum is a tree with a round or spreading crown; it can grow up to 13.5 metres tall, but is generally smaller. The moderately straight, cylindrical bole can be free of branches for up to 3 metres, it is up to 25cm in diameter[].
The tree is harvested from the wild for local use as a source of resin and wood.

The bark and fruit furnish a yellow resin that is employed for caulking canoes[].

The wood is a light pinkish brown with a pale grayish cas,t and occasionally with darker brown streaks. The texture is medium; the grain straight; lustre is moderate. The wood is of medium weight; fairly durable. It is easy to work, though it sometimes requires a sharp knife to cut smoothly across the grain; it is capable of taking a smooth polish. It is sometimes used for general construction[].
