General Information

Pongamiopsis pervilleana is a deciduous shrub or small tree that can grow up to 14 metres tall. The bole is up to 30cm in diameter[].
The tree is a locally important source of timber, being harvested from the wild.
Although widespread, all vegetation in the area in which it grows is fragmented and declining rapidly. The plant is currently classified as 'Least Concern' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2013)[].

The roots are used to make fish poison[].
