General Information

Pimpinella pruatjan is an aromatic, perennial plant producing a cluster of ascending or spreading stems up to 50cm long from a thick root up to 15cm long. Spreading stems can form new roots at the leaf nodes[, ].
A popular and important medicinal plant in Java, where it is commonly harvested from the wild and is also cultivated locally. The plant is sold in local markets.
The plant has a very limited native range and has long been over-exploited from the wild. It is cultivated to a limited extent. It has not yet been assessed for the IUCN Red List, but is considered to be Endangered in Indonesia[, ].
