General Information
Pandanus solmslaubachii is an evergreen tree with a much-branched crown; it usualy grows around 6 - 10 metres tall, occasionally reaching 20 metres. The main trunk can be up to 8 metres tall, around 20cm in diameter, with spiny conical nodules (warty) and often with dense, erect adventitious rootlets. Few to many prop roots are produced. The long, sword-shaped leaves can be around 200cm long and 6 - 8cm wide[

The orange fruit is about 30cm long and 15 - 25cm in diameter. It is a multiple fruit, comprised of about 19 - 127 segments (phalanges), each segment is around 55 - 60mm x 15 - 50mm and contains 8 - 17 cylindrical seeds each up to 10 - 22 x 2mm[

Although we have seen no specific records for this species, the leaves of most members of this genus are used locally for weaving a range of items such as mats, bags and baskets. The leaves, which are usually tough and fibrous, are long, narrow and sword-shaped and can easily be split into strips for weaving[
