Oenocarpus distichus is a slow-growing, single-stemmed, evergreen palm tree growing from 5 - 10 metres tall, with occasional specimens to 20 metres. The unbranched stem can be 8 - 18cm in diameter, occasionally to 25cm; it is topped by a crown of 9 - 12 leaves that are all arranged in one plane[
