The heartwood is dark brown with black stripes; it is clearly demarcated from the light brown to pink sapwood. The grain is straight. The wood is hard; quite heavy; elastic; not very durable, being susceptible to the attacks of fungi and insects. It works well. It is used for making chairs, decorative veneer, construction, flooring, boxes and crates[
