Miconia dolichorrhyncha is a shrub or a tree with a spreading crown; it usually grows 5 - 12 metres tall, occasionally to 18 metres. The straight and reasonably cylindrical bole sometimes branches from near the ground, with other specimens free of branches for up to half of their height; it can be 30cm or more in diameter[

The heartwood is grayish brown; the sapwood almost white when fresh, turning to yellow or dark brown upon exposure. The wood is uniformly fine-textured; moderately heavy to heavy; strong; tenacious, but susceptible to insect attacks. It is fairly easy to work, takes a smooth finish. It is sometimes used for beams in house construction[
