Maytenus robusta is a semi-deciduous tree with a dense, ovate crown; it can grow 6 - 12 metres tall. The scabrous bole can be 20 - 35cm in diameter[].
The tree is harvested from the wild for local use of its wood. An ornamental tree, it is used for landscaping, street planting etc[].

Propagation

Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a shaded position in a nursery seedbed. A low germination rate can be expected, with the seed sprouting within 14 - 20 days[]. When the seedlings have 4 - 5 leaves, pot them up into individual containers and they should be ready to plant out 5 - 7 months later[].
