Litsea umbellata is a very widespread species. Although there is a decline in its range and frequency, as well as a loss of quality of habitat, given the large extent of occurrence and the number of known localities in which it is found, coupled with the fact that it can grow in secondary vegetation, the species is not considered to be threatened on a global scale. The plant is classified as 'Least Concern' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2020)[
