].
The heartwood is orangey-brown; it is clearly demarcated from the 5 - 10cm wide band of sapwood. The texture is fine; the grain interlocked to straight; the aspect is slightly moiré. The wood is light to moderately heavy; moderately hard; durable, being resistant to fungi and dry wood borers but susceptible to termites. It seasons fairly quickly with only a slight risk of checking or distortion; once dry it is stable in service. The wood has a fairly high blunting effect, stellite-tipped and tungsten carbide tools are recommended; nailing and screwing are good, though pre-boring may be required; gluing is correct. A high quality timber, it is used for many purposes including high class furniture, cabinet making, cigar boxes, panelling, joinery, flooring, light carpentry, veneer[
