Lanonia hainanensis is an evergreen palm producing a cluster of stems up to 4 metres tall and 3cm in diameter; each stem is topped by a crown of 12 - 15 fan-shaped leaves with petioles up to 160cm long and leaf blades to 120cm wide. The erect inflorescences are up to 100cm tall[
