General Information

Hyptidendron asperrimum is a semideciduous shrub or small tree with an irregular, sparse crown; it can grow 4 - 8 metres tall. The usually crooked but more or less cylindrical bole can be 20 - 30cm in diameter[].
The tree is sometimes harvested from the wild for local use of its wood. It can be used as a pioneer species when restoring native woodland and is an ornamental tree, especially when in bloom, so can be used in landscaping and is well-suited to street-plantings under power lines[].

Propagation

Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a sunny position in a nursery seedbed. A high germination rate can be expected, with the seed sprouting within 21 - 28 days[].
