Hopea glabra is an evergreen tree growing about 20 metres tall.
The tree is harvested from the wild for its timber.
The tree has a limited range, being confined to the southern end of the Western Ghats. It is classified as 'Endangered' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2011)[
