Other Uses

The heartwood is creamy-white to a light yellow; it is not demarcated from the sapwood. The texture is medium; the grain straight or interlocked. The wood is light to moderately heavy, soft to moderately hard; not very durable, being susceptible to fungi and dry wood borers but with some resistance to termites. The wood seasons normally, with only a slight risk of distortion but a high risk of checking; once dry it is moderately stable in service, It usually works well with ordinary tools, though there can be difficulties cause by interlocked grain; nailing and screwing are good; gluing is correct. The wood is used for purposes such as high class furniture, cabinet making, turnery, flooring, light carpentry, interior joinery, boxes and crates, veneer etc[
