The wood is fine grained, tough, heavy and very durable. The wood is beautifully marked, with a dark centre that is highly figured with dark brown bands and pale or yellowish areas. Easily worked, it makes an excellent turnery and cabinet timber and is also possibly a useful wood for engraving[
