General Information

Guettarda viburnoides is a semideciduous shrub or tree with a pyramidal or roundish crown; it can grow 4 - 7 metres tall. The short, cylindrical bole can be 15 - 25cm in diameter[].
The tree is sometimes harvested from the wild for local use of its wood and edible fruit. A small and elegant tree, it can be used in landscaping, being suitable for planting in narrow streets and under power lines[].

Propagation

Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a partially shaded position in a nursery seedbed or in individual containers. A low germination rate can usually be expected, with the seed sprouting within 35 - 42 days[]. When the seedbed-sown seedlings are 5 - 6cm tall, pot them up into individual containers and they should be ready to plant out 6 - 8 months later[].
