General Information

Fimbristylis pauciflora is a usually perennial, erect to prostrate, grass-like plant. The stems are densely tufted, the plant eventually forming large clumps, up to 30cm tall and perhaps 50cm wide[].
The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a medicine. It is used as a green manure in rice fields.

Habitat

Wet grasslands, savannahs, forest floors and swamp margins[]. Sunny or shaded, damp, sandy or clayey sites, on swamps edges, and in rice fields, at elevations up to 800 metres[].
