General Information

Euplassa incana is an evergreen tree with a dense, roundish, low crown; it can grow 6 - 12 metres tall. The short, somewhat crooked bole can be 60 - 80cm in diameter[].
An attractive wood, the tree is often harvested from the wild for local use and export.

Other Uses

The wood is medium-textured; wavy-grained, with distinct patterns when radially cut; moderately heavy; with poor mechanical properties; of poor durability when exposed to the elements. It can split easily when drying. A handsome wood, it is used for fine furniture making, decorative laminas and for internal finishes in buildings[].

Propagation

Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a partially shaded position in individual containers. A germination rate of less than 50% can be expected, with the seed sprouting within 20 - 30 days[]. Plant them out when the seedlings are 30 - 40cm tall[].
