The plant is sometimes harvested from the wild for local medicinal use.

Known Hazards

Although we have seen no specific information for this plant, the latex in most, if not all Euphorbias is caustic and toxic - skin contact often causing irritation and blistering; contact with the eyes causing temporary or even permanent blindness; whilst ingestion can cause purging or more severe problems[].

Cultivation Details

An easily grown plant[].
Seedlings to ± 1 m tall, with unbranched fleshy stem 4(-5)-angled, 3-4 cm thick; angles ± straight, with spine-shields forming a continuous horny margin ± 2 mm wide. Young plants to ± 3 m tall, branching and rebranching irregularly[].

The dried stem bark is boiled with butter and coffee beans, and the decoction is rubbed onto inflamed lymph nodes[].
