General Information

Eugenia itaguahiensis is a large evergreen shrub or small tree with an open, irregular crown; it can grow 2 - 5 metres tall. He short, grooved bole can be 15 - 25cm in diameter[, ].
The edible fruit is gathered from the wild and consumed locally[]. The tree is occasionally cultivated in home gardens for its fruit[].
The plant is threatened by habitat destruction and has become in danger of extinction in the wild, though it is cultivated in gardens[].
