Duguetia sessilis is restricted to the states of Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo in eastern Brazil, where it is found in a range of habitats. Many of these habitats are under threat due to human activities, However, this species is also found in several protected areas and is not thought to be under immediate threat. The plant is currently classified as 'Least Concern' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2021)[
