General Information

Duguetia latifolia is a tree or a shrub, usually growing around 2 - 12 metres tall but exceptionally reaching 20 metres. The trunk can be up to 10cm in diameter[].
The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a medicine and source of wood.
Duguetia latifolia has a very wide distribution, large population, is not currently experiencing any major threats and no significant future threats have been identified. The plant is classified as 'Least Concern' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2019)[].

Edible Uses

We have no reports on the edibility of this species, though if the fruit has a fleshy pulp then that will be edible[]. The brown, ellipsoid to globose fruit is 30 - 45mm in diameter, comprising 25 - 60 fertile carpels each 10 - 17mm long and 2 - 12mm in diameter[].

Medicinal

An infusion of the bark is used as an ointment to relieve muscular pains[].

Other Uses

The wood is used in traditional house construction[].
