General Information

Drypetes staudtii is a tree growing up to 13 metres tall. The plant is cauliflorous, producing flowers on the trunk and stems[].
The plant is harvested from the wild for local medicinal use.
This species has a limited range in nature. Clearance of the forest for timber and expansion of agriculture, both large scale commercial and small-holder, are destroying its habitat. The plant is classified as 'Vulnerable' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2011)[].
