General Information

Dendropanax cuneatus is an evergreen tree with a dense crown; it can grow 6 - 14 metres tall. The short, crooked bole can be 25 - 35cm in diameter[].
A very ornamental tree, it can be used for landscaping, especially for planting in narrow streets[].

A pioneer species producing fruits that are avidly eaten by birds, the plant can be used in reforestation projects for restoring native forest, especially gallery forests[].

Other Uses

The wood is light in weight; soft; not very durable, especially if it gets wet; and with a low resistance to the attacks of wood-eating organisms. It is used for internal purposes such as wainscoting, boards for internal division, boxes and as pulp for paper making[].

Propagation

Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a partially shaded position in a nursery seedbed. A low germination rate can be expected, with the seed sprouting within 20 - 30 days[]. When the seedlings are 3 - 6cm tall, pot them up into individual containers[].
The seed loses its viability within 90 days from harvest[].
