Cryptosepalum staudtii is an evergreen shrub or a tree with an umbrella-like crown; it can grow 15 - 18 metres or more tall. The straight, cylindrical bole can be 100cm in diameter with small, thin, triangular-shaped buttresses up to 50cm high and 10 - 20cm wide at the base[
