General Information

Croton metallicus is a shrub growing around 6 - 7 metres tall with a main stem that can be up to 15cm in diameter[].
The plant is harvested from the wild for use as a perfume for oils.
Croton metallicus is restricted to the island of Fiji, and there are only five known locations. There is a continuing decline in the extent and quality of the dry forest this species inhabits, with habitat loss due to clearance for agriculture being the main threat. The plant is classified as 'Endangered' in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species(2019)[].
